Integrin beta3 is a protein encoded by the ITGB3 gene which is approximately 87 kDa. Integrin beta3 is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in the MAPK-Erk pathway, apoptotic pathways, ERK signalling and the integrin pathway. Integrins are integral cell-surface proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. Integrin beta 3 is found along with the alpha IIb chain in platelets. It is known to participate in cell adhesion as well as cell-surface mediated signalling. Integrin beta3 is expressed in the blood, bone marrow, liver, muscle and skin. Mutations in the ITGB3 gene may result in glanzmann thrombasthenia. STJ97287 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Integrin beta3 protein.
