Stat1 is a protein encoded by the STAT1 gene which is approximately 87,3 kDa. Stat1 is localised to the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is involved in common cytokine receptor gamma-chain family signalling pathways, Th17 cell differentiation, toll-like receptor signalling pathways and the prolactin signalling pathway. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. This protein mediates the expression of a variety of genes and is thought to be important for cell viability in response to different cell stimuli and pathogens. Stat1 is expressed in the nervous system, liver, skin, blood and lymph node. Mutations in the STAT1 gene may result in immunodeficiency. STJ90409 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody specifically binds to endogenous Stat1 protein which only binds about Y701 when Y701 is phosphorylated.
