SIRT2 is a protein encoded by the SIRT2 gene which is approximately 43,1 kDa. SIRT2 is localised to the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is involved in NAD metabolism, p53 signalling, chromatin regulation / acetylation and the 4-1BB pathway. This protein falls under the sirtuin family of proteins. It may function as an intracellular regulatory protein with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. It may also deacetylates internal lysines on histone and alpha-tubulin as well as many other proteins such as key transcription factors. SIRT2 isoform 1 is expressed in heart, liver and skeletal muscle and isoform 2 is strongly expressed in the cortex. STJ95668 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of SIRT2 protein.
