Integrin beta1 is a protein encoded by the ITGB1 gene which is approximately 88,4 kDa. Integrin beta1 is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in the MAPK-Erk pathway, AKT signalling pathway and apoptotic pathways in synovial fibroblasts. It is a membrane receptor involved in cell adhesion and recognition in a variety of processes including embryogenesis, hemostasis, tissue repair, immune response and metastatic diffusion of tumor cells. Integrin beta1 isoform 1 is widely expressed, isoform 2 is expressed in the skin, liver and skeletal muscle and isoform 3 and 4 are expressed in the in kidney, placenta and cervical epithelium. Mutations in the ITGB1 gene may result in cerebral hypoxia and Fraser syndrome. STJ93731 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Integrin beta1 protein.
